According to the dictionary, commitment is the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, or anything else. This is about your commitment to your health through fitness and nutrition. Staying committed to getting quality sleep, following a solid nutrition plan, and maintaining an exercise program that produces results will help you achieve all of your fitness and health goals. Now how to stay committed is the challenge.
One of the biggest issues towards building a lasting commitment is that we concentrate on our short term goals and we lose focus on our long term goals. People nowadays are always looking for a quick fix when it comes to exercise. Everyone wants to shortcut the process to better health. Avoid the quick fixes and look at this commitment to exercise and better health as a life long journey. Set small, short term goals that are also long term goals. This journey is filled with small steps leading to milestones. You will overcome all the obstacles 1 step at a time.
So now that you have set your short term goals that lead to long term goals, how are you going to stay committed?
Make it fun! Make it social! Bring your friends and family with you to exercise. When you have someone next to you encouraging change then people are more likely to continue to exercise more often.
Schedule your exercise for the entire week! When you have scheduled your workouts into your weekly schedule you never have the excuse of not having time!
Meal prep! Make your meals for your entire week on Sunday. Then you have no excuse to not eat healthy.
Something is better than nothing! Even if you are feeling like you just cant get through the workout do it anyway. Exercise is exercise and you always feel better after its done!
